My Own Miracle (MOM): A Different Perspective on Mother’s Day

Whether we think about it or not, Mother’s Day is often a day that can bring on an array of emotions for many people. With the flip of a channel, there’s no shortage of commercials with smiling moms receiving jewelry, cards, spa days, and flowers. What we sometimes forget through all the smiling faces on the commercials is that Mother’s Day is a different experience for every single person.

Life consists of just my daughter and I. She’s my one and only and it’s just the two of us. I remind her constantly that God has our back and He has proven that so much over the past several years. One of the greatest joys for me as a mom is to see her stay strong in her faith, which she continues to do every day.

My journey to motherhood wasn’t a straight line. It took me years to admit to anyone that I struggled with infertility. The vulnerability and pain that journey brought was simply too much to share publicly with people. I went through it all. Surgeries, in-vitro, giving myself shots, and the endless and unpredictable rollercoaster of emotions. At this point in my life, I’ve come to realize that there’s always purpose in pain and that me sharing my pain could be the thing that helps someone else.

On January 19, 2006, my life miraculously changed for the better. Jadyn is often described as meaning, “God has heard,” and my Jadyn is a testament to this. 15 years later, I still look at my daughter as a miracle because God didn’t have to bless me with her.

So, on this Mother’s Day, I don’t really look at it being about me—I look at it as a day that I celebrate the reason WHY I’m called mom—MOwn Miracle named Jadyn.

And to each person that reads this, no matter if you are a mom or someone’s child, remember that God still does miracles. My story is a testament to that. Whatever desires you have, whatever purpose you want to live in, share them with God. Even if it doesn’t turn out the way you expect, if you turn it over to God, I can guarantee it will turn out in a way that is far better than anything you could have ever imagined!

God Bless & Happy Mother’s Day to ALL the Amazing Moms!
